19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging season, winning just one win at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
